Moščenice

Mošćenice is a medieval, typical hilltop village, 14 kilometers distant from Opatija. It is situated 173 meters above Mošćenička Draga, on the eastern slopes of mountain Učka, with a stunning view on Kvarner bay and island of Cres and Krk. The entrance in town is possible only on one side, where the town gate are, while on the other sides is surrounded with slope, descending all the way to the sea. A stair path lead out of Mošćenice towards the beach St. Ivan, counting 753 steps. In town there are numerous cultural monuments, including St. Andrew's church, St. Bartol church and St. Sebastian church, local etnographic museum, town gate and an old olive extraction mill. Its history dates back to the prehistory when Liburnians settled here and that's why this area is still being called Liburnija. They were also called breeders and seamen, known for their fast rowing boats. Beside the mediterranean architecture, very interesting my seem also viewpoint, nearby church, from where you can enjoy stunning view on Kvarner bay.
