Medveja is only 8 kilometers away from Opatija and 2 kilometers from Lovran. Once tipical small fisherman village developed in famous tourist destination, with all sorts of facilities. The legend says Medveja was called after a mythological Greek enchantress Medea, for she was the first to walk into the sea. After the same legend the underground streams, descending from Učka towards the beach, are in fact Medea's tears.
